Kangaroo Math Competition
We are very proud that one of our students ended in the top 5 of the International Math's competition “ Kangaroo”. This is an international mathematical competition in which over 50 countries are represented. There are twelve levels of participation, ranging from grade 1 to grade 12. The competition is held annually on the third Thursday of March.
It is the largest competition for school students in the world, with over 6 million participants Clement Vovard, Daniël Gakes, Raquel Soria Minervini, Jasin Dzambic-Spahic and Dung Nguyen enrolled for the competition as participators of the International school Twente and we are very proud to announce that Clement ended in the top 5 of the Netherlands with 99.88%. He will go through to the Dutch finals! This is an extraordinary accomplishment if you consider that schools only compete with their best students. Also huge congratulations to Daniël, Dung, Raquel and Jasin who also ended high on the competitors listings, with Raquel very close to the top 5 with 88%.
Together with three TTO students we have won the second prize in the National Dutch Math competition. This is a fantastic effort since the competition was held between 48 (Dutch) schools which had delegated their best students. Our group consisted of a Turkish, a Chinese, a South African and a French student ( the latter, of course, our IST student Clement Vovard!) with an Irish teacher , Mr. O’Dohmnail ! One can’t get more International in a Dutch competition. Next school year this group will compete in the grand final in Tonbridge Wells in England for the European contest… Congratulations to the students and of course to their very proud Math teacher !!
